EUROmodul has designed, developed and manufactured a prototype of the Heated bus stop.

Setting up heated bus stops in Astana, is essential for proper functioning of the city’s public transportation system due to extreme weather conditions – in the Winter temperatures drop to -50° C. For this reason, the city authorities have decided to develop a new product in cooperation between city of Astana, ‘EUROmodul’ and company ‘New Lines’ from Kazakhstan, which represents ‘EUROmodul’ in Kazakhstan. Based on the completed prototype, ‘EUROmodul’ is expected to start serial production of the bus stops.

After working closely with city authorities of Astana on design of the concept and architectural solution, ‘EUROmodul’ has created the best solution based on the original design, which is a completely new product that can be used in different parts of the world in extreme cold weather climates.

The bus stop consists of three parts: heated (closed) bus stop, open bus stop area and small shop for sale of print, souvenirs and snacks.

Roof, floor and walls of the heated area are insulated with organic materials which have high performances in terms of fire resistance. During the winter, the bus stop is heated with Inverter Air conditioning, with additional heating by air curtain. During the summer, the closed area is cooled with air conditioners, therefore providing comfort for the townspeople during the entire year. The bus stop is equipped with 3 advertising windows type ‘City light 801’ for print ads or information about transport. The stop is also equipped with benches, windows for timetables and trash bin.

The entrance to the small shop is from the back side, but the passengers can also use the sliding window from the closed area of the bus stop to purchase items. Open area of the bus stop provides shelter from rain, show and wind. The aesthetic effects are highlighted with LED stripes and spotlights which give the stop modern look.
